JT 20 Sept 2009 Melville.

Fun day, but was getting frustrated at not improving on the 2 sec speed, but once I got time to get to a computer with realspeed things looked better.

Followed someone who was fast down into kite country / shallows then chickened out and slowed down – bad idea as you then draw more water. Then chicken jybed and hit rocks ! should have stayed out of there or just gone for it !!!

JT Melville 10-9-9

Melville from about 14:00 – 4.2 m ezzy wave (1998 and still going strong), sonic 95l

Like goldilocks, sometime too hot, sometime too cold, sometime just right.

Had fun – Dont know how you other guys manage those speeds in those conditions !

I had one set of gusts that completely backwinded the 4.2 – dont know how windy that has to be.

JT 5 September Pt Walter

Early morning start with Mark, on the water by 8. But then realised my tightening of the footstraps had gone a bit too far, very hard to handle gusts when you cant get your feet in ! Back to the car for a screwdriver. Then some swimming, standing waiting.

Then wind seemed to get better, but my boom developed a nasty wobble. Broken arm inside the head. So packed up leaving the others to enjoy the wind and visited the shop on my way home. Got the replacement part and fitted it so have a functioning boom again.

Numbers were a bit dissapointing but still had a lot of fun.

JT 23-8-9 Pt Walter

Selfishly ignored the strong>DTSP (Director of Tactics and Strategical Planning) request and went to Wallyworld, had it all to myself for 2 hours (not counting the Pelicans), some gusts and some lulls. Difficult to waterstart at times. Had to try out my new (2nd hand) KA Koncept 5.8 and JP 30cm fin. Much more stable in the gusts, and could feel the power building. In contrast the SE Wave I have been using would just shake me of when the gusts hit. Just need some more wind now.

JT 15-8-9 Luck Bay and Pt Walter

Went to Melville but so many lulls and so cold packed it in and went to Wallyworld, if you going to be sitting about in lulls its a much more pleasant place to wait for wind. Couldnt quite get much speed today, the wind was either too much or too little, like the bears porridge.

JT, 18-7-9, Lucky Bay, 6.2

Bobbed around for a what seemed like a long time waiting for the wind, at least a few good gusts eventually came in.

Nice to see so many others out.

JT, 28 June 2009, Lucky Bay, 5.8

Finally managed to go faster on the Sonic than I had on the Kombat. Leaving for NZ in a couple of days. Sailed for quite a while and got best speed on Sonic with Drake fin. Borrowed a choco fin but was too tired to really give it a proper go.

Lucky bay – first proper run with the isonic 95 – definitely need a better fin, it was the limiting factor today I think. 6.2 Expression (out of storage from a few years ago) – too big but once I moved the boom up and gave it some more outhaul it wasnt backwinding quite as violently.

JT, 19th June – Pt Walter – 5m

Pt Walter, a bit too much wind (I know there shouldnt ever be too much – but the gusts today were extreme). Had fun though, a bit dissapointed with the speed but at least I got wet. 5m Ezzy a handful most of the time, felt a bit like a rag doll at times, just being picked up and shaken. Looking forward to tomorrow now.
